About Us

Bridges Connecting Communities, (formerly Knox Community Volunteers), is a not-for-profit organisation that provides volunteer services to the local community to prolong and improve the independence of elderly residents residing in their own home.

Founded in 1975 by a small group of concerned individuals who recognised the need for volunteer assistance to elderly residents in the City of Knox.

Since this time, Bridges has succeeded in being able to provide support to elderly residents in the form of transport, social groups, community access and community support.

Our Mission

To empower elderley frail aged people and people with a disability and their carers to remain independen

  • To prolong the Independence and well being of elderly residents and to minimise the isolation often felt by the older community.

Eligibility

The services and programs of Bridges Connecting Communities are available to community members who meet the following criteria:

  • Aged, frail, or disabled
  • Reside in the City of Knox or the South West Yarra Ranges
  • Living independently
  • No longer driving
