Community Programs

Bridges Community Programs are an integral part of what we offer you as a service to our community. We encourage independence and foster connection through our wide range of social, interactive and creative activities assisted by our Volunteer Community.

Active Brains Club

Active Brains Club will keep your hands and mind busy by playing games and participating in trivia in a fun and friendly group environment. You will get to enjoy sharing stories and jokes and often end up reminiscing about times gone by. This club is a fun and relaxed way to meet others and stay connected while exercising your brain to strengthen your memory and cognition.

Arts & Crafts Club

Arts & Crafts Club is a welcoming and friendly space for you to meet people while participating in a wide range of different activities each week. Some past creations have included handmade cards, calendars, paper flowers, party decorations and jewellery making. All abilities are welcome with no previous art or craft experience necessary to join in.

Knitting Club

Knitting Club members create knitted and crocheted items of their choice with the option of knitting for various charities including KOGO (Knit One Give One). Knitting Club is a wonderful way to share your love of knitting as well as relax, talk and meet likeminded people. All abilities are welcome, and no previous knitting or crochet experience is necessary to join.

Quiz & Puzzle Club

Quiz & Puzzle Club will encourage your logical thinking skills by completing quizzes, playing games (including Bingo) and participating in trivia in a fun and friendly group environment. Club members often delight in sharing stories, jokes and reminiscing while enjoying the social interaction that the Quiz & Puzzle Club provides. Once a month, members get together at a Cafe to enjoy a morning tea together.

Easy Moves Club

Easy Moves is a gentle chair-based exercise group where you are guided to stretch using easy and controlled movements while seated. Therabands and light hand weights are also used as part of the session with all exercises and activities encouraging and supporting hand & eye coordination. Easy Moves is a fun and social way to keep active and healthy. A Doctors Certificate is required to participate.

Day Trippers

As the name “Day Trippers” suggests, this is an all-day group trip where you head out to spend a wonderful day with Club Members at a selected venue. Some of our past and ongoing trips include: Morning Melodies, Movies, Arthurs Seat, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, Grants Picnic Ground, Myuna Farm, Dandenong Market and Silvan Dam, just to name a few. We are constantly updating our venues to make sure our members get to enjoy the best that Melbourne and surrounds has to offer.

Light Moves Club

Light Moves is a gentle chair-based exercise group where you will be encouraged to stretch using easy and controlled movements while seated. Therabands are also used as part of the session with all exercises and activities encouraging and supporting hand & eye coordination.  Club Members also have fun participating in indoor lawn games such as quoits and bocce. A Doctors Certificate is required to participate. *This group does not use hand weights*

Cafe Club

Cafe Club is a fun and informal way for you to get together over morning tea at a fantastic variety of cafes. Sharing a coffee or tea and chat is a fun and relaxed way to meet new people and make friends. Cafe Club is an ideal way for you to keep connected with your community.

Men’s Lunch Club

Men’s Lunch Club is a fortnightly program for men to catch up and share a meal together.  No fortnight is at the same venue with venues being local and chosen for their fantastic food and atmosphere.

Woodwork Club

In Woodwork Club, you will learn to handcraft a range of items in a fun and supportive setting. Some of the clubs past projects include chopping boards, Lazy Susan’s, board games, toys and tables. All abilities are welcome, and no previous woodworking experience or knowledge of tools is necessary to join.

Cards & Games Club

A variety of card and board games are offered in this club. Chess, scrabble, gin rummy and bridge are on offer just to name just a few. Joining this club, you get the opportunity to keep your mind busy while engaging in conversation and connecting with others over a game or two.

Out & About

Some of our past and ongoing “Out & About” group outings include Spotlight, Bunnings, Warran Glen Nursery, Op-shops, Mont De Lancey Historical Homestead, Melbourne Air Museum, Shopping Centre’s as well as drives through the Hills, picnics, BBQ’s, Factory Outlets all with lunch stops at a variety of cafes and hotels. We are constantly updating our venues to make sure that our Out & About Club Members get to enjoy the best that Melbourne has to offer.
